Sexual and Gender Minority Populations 🏳‍🌈 | Women's Health | Trauma Informed Care | Interpersonal Relationships and Positive Psychology Specialist

A Bit About Me

I am here today because seeing people like me made me believe I deserved to be. I am a survivor of child sex abuse. I’m also a lifelong Law & Order SVU fan. Inspired by characters portrayed by Mariska Hargitay & B.D. Wong, and the former's real-world advocacy, I pursued my education in politics and psychology. Along both my educational and healing journeys, Brené Brown's research on courage & shame inspired me to understand how vulnerability leads to authenticity & joy.

Living with chronic illness, PTSD, and OCD, I know firsthand the complexities of balancing mental and physical health challenges. As a queer person, I navigate a world that doesn’t always understand or support people like me. But I also recognize the resilience and empathy these experiences have instilled in me.

My approach is anchored in a belief that love is a limitless, transformative resource for healing and growth. I am passionate about understanding why we sometimes hurt each other in the name of love and envision a society that prioritizes connection and compassion. I aim to dismantle systems that fail to promote wellness, and advocate for equitable access and care, because, as writer and artist Eiichiro Oda expressed, "no one is born into this world to be alone."

As a therapist, I bring an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed approach deeply rooted in a commitment to bodily autonomy, liberation, and anti-colonialism, aiming to create a safe and holistic space for healing and self-discovery. I am especially dedicated to supporting clients in areas often overlooked or stigmatized. My goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where we can explore, heal, and move toward flourishing together.

My experience spans work with individuals, groups, and families facing complex and often intersectional challenges, including, shame, anger, anxiety, identity concerns, substance use, legal involvement, suicidality, and disability or chronic illness. I’ve worked with survivors of intimate partner violence, childhood and adult sexual trauma, attachment and complex trauma, hate violence, and various forms of institutional and systemic violence. My specialties include social policy, healthcare/research ethics, trauma, resilience, & sexuality. I’m interested in the intersection of attachment, neuroscience, sexuality, & health.

I offer case management, health coaching, psychoeducation, talk therapy, coping skills development, expressive therapies, and harm reduction counseling, and I provide letters of support for gender-affirming care. Recognizing that each person’s journey to well-being is unique, I draw on your strengths, values, and lived experiences to help us create a path toward growth that’s as distinctive as you are.

People of all ages, genders, sexualities, body sizes, races, religions, and ethnicities are welcome!

Education

2021-2025

Masters of Science in Applied Positive Psychology

University of East London

Positive Psychology is not about the absence of suffering but rather how to flourish and be our best, and happiest, selves. Resilience goes beyond mere survival—it’s about helping someone align their actions with their values, which gives their lives greater purpose, even in the face of hardship. Here I learned the evidence base that all the "fun" types of therapy are founded on.

2022-2024

Masters of Social Work

Stony Brook University

While at the university, I worked for the SUNY Research Fund to evaluate the efficacy of healthy parenting programs for legally-involved fathers. I had meetings with local county executives and wrote pieces regarding the impact of criminal justice policies on sexual and gender minorities, the health inequities that have diminished following telehealth allowances during COVID-19, and the history of informed consent in federal policy.

2017-2021

Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Public Service & Psychology
Hofstra University

During my time at the university, I worked as a Psychology Research Assistant evaluating a crisis intervention to reduce the risk of developing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Having minored in Criminology, Political Science, and Civic Engagement, I gained experience across many disciplines which can be best demonstrated by my work researching the effects of criminalization on health policy and the key influences on public support of human rights-focused policy interventions.
